Glass Ketubah is a concept
developed by Skip & Illene Dyrda. Typical Ketubot are original
drawings or paintings and more often, a print made based on the original
drawing or painting into which the appropriate text is placed.
Sometimes the text is preprinted, and blank spaces are left in which
to personalize the Ketubah, especially when the print is created
by offset lithography. Recently, Ketubot are more often printed
using the Giclee' process and are more easily personalized since
each print is created 'on demand'. And some Ketubot are created
entirely by hand, either hand painted, drawn or assembled, such as
copper Ketubot.
The Glass Ketubot starts it's life in a kiln but but that's only the beginning.
Specifically, the Ketubah is designed by taking shards of decorative glass and
fusing them together in a kiln to create what amounts to a background.
This is what you see on the left, as it came out of our kiln. This
is the actual glass we use as the basis for the designs.
Once we have a design we really like, it is photographed. That image
is then adjusted so that it shows the true beauty of the original
glass.
We then embellish that image by adding borders, titles and the text
the client chooses. The finished product is printed on archival watercolor
paper.
And that's not all.....our customers will also have the option of purchasing
an actual glass version of their Ketubah as well as several other products still
in developement, such as a matching Mezuzah, matching gift prints, invitations
and much more.
So stay tuned..... |
